2 D1W4 (HPC): A New Level of Ow!

Print

OMFG, and I thought last week's pushups workout was hard. That week was easy compared to today's workout.

And I'm bracing myself, because I know from all accounts from my runner-blogger pals who're already way ahead of me (Andrew, Cymrusteve, et al, etc.), that it's only going to get even harder from here on out. Yikes! Somehow, I just simply cannot (or rather, do not want to!) imagine what that would feel like, but nonetheless, there it is.

I think I might have to revise what I said earlier about feeling like I had superhuman female strength. I'm beginning to feel like a scrawny two-pound weakling after tonight's workout, & I'm only doing girl-style pushups.

However, I think what I might do to redeem myself is, after finishing the Hundred Pushups Challenge doing 100 girl-style pushups, I will then redo the same program again from scratch, this time doing regular pushups. And I'm doing this just so I can have the proper bragging rights to say that yes, not only did I do the program twice, but I did actually do regular pushups the second time through. And even though Cymrusteve assures me that it's perfectly acceptable to do girl-style pushups, on some level, in the remote reaches of my mind -- probably somewhere towards the back of my brain (obviously not the same area as where the pain receptors lie!), there's a part of me that screams "That's cheating! You're taking the easy way out!"

Well actually, I seem to recall that Erik might've very well said that to me at some point, but for dramatic purposes (& for preserving the illusion that he's impressed with my efforts!), let's just say that I'm probably imagining things & can't be 100% certain about that. LOL!

Anyhow, here's what I did:

Today's pushups workout called for intervals of 27, 20, 20, 17, & a max of atleast 27 pushups (rest 60 s). Here's what I did: 27, 20, 20, 17, 27.

OK, to be honest, I'm not sure if I should count tonight's workout as a bust. Reason being: I pretty much kept to the 60 seconds rest in between intervals, save the final workout, in which I rested a whole 2 minutes before I did the final 27 pushups. Now, I know the program technically says 60+ seconds, the key symbol being that plus sign(!), but I'm not sure if it's entirely legit to have waited a whole 120 seconds before resuming the final set.

I'm sure Steve will probably say that it's OK as long as I completed all of the pushups, but again, I'm not sure that I am satisfied with tonight's pushups "performance."

The muscles around my underarms are literally vibrating! They feel all tingly & warm, & I can barely raise my arms in front of me before feeling the burn! Ouch!

If I hit the wall during the next workout, I might very well be repeating Week 4. We'll see.

OK, enough weird tingly muscle sensations for one night. I am one gal who's extremely happy that she won't have to move her arms any more tonight. Soon they will be lying horizontally, along with rest of me, as I doze off in a deep & well-deserved slumber! ;-)

Have a good night!

I was finally brave enough to tackle my feed reader (I have this thing of avoiding other blogs when I've been lazy on mine, makes me feel better thinking everyone else is doing the same) but seeing that I had over 200 running feeds to catch up on I decided to start with your 65 so now I can proudly say I have just finished reading your last SIXTY FIVE (yes I'm shouting) posts, someone's been a busy girl and now I'm off to read Steve's 56

Thanks for taking the time to read all of those posts.

OMG, I'm afraid to ask how many hours of reading that took! ;-) LOL.
